Cleaning Low Rise Flats

In general you must not leave rubbish on the stairs, hallways, bin rooms or other communal parts except within the bulk bin area. Neither must you place unwanted items of furniture in the communal areas. Such actions increase the risk of fire and vermin.

We have an agreement with the residents of some low rise blocks to undertake cleaning services in exchange for an additional service charge . Where  this is in place we will:

  • Clean all communal areas, floors, walls, lifts and stairwells
  • Undertake a regular fire safety check
  • Check any rubbish hoppers, chutes and ensure all bin rooms are free of smells
  • Ensure all communal areas are free of rubbish and obstacles
  • Remove graffiti or if necessary refer its removal to our specialist team
  • Ensure all repairs to doors, lifts, intercoms and other equipment are reported for repair
  • Ensure the communal areas immediately around the blocks are litter free
  • Ensure any bulk bin areas are free of spillage and clean

Where the agreement is not in place it is the responsibility of residents to maintain the cleanliness of the communal parts:

“You are jointly responsible with the other tenants of the building for cleaning communal areas of the building”. (Assured Tenancy Agreement 4.17.2)
