Repair Responsibilities
Responsibilities for repairing and maintaining your home are shared between you and us. We take pride in maintaining our properties, but we need your help to keep up the standard.
Our Responsibilities
We are responsible for the structure and exterior of the premises. This includes items such as boilers, roofs and wiring. A list of what we are responsible for can be found in your tenant’s handbook.
Your Responsibilities
You are responsible for keeping your home clean, in good decorative order and for any repairs caused by neglect, carelessness or misuse by you, your family, pets or visitors. It is your responsibility to carry out some minor repairs yourself, such as replacing light bulbs/tubes, toilet seats and unblocking sinks and baths. You are also responsible for getting replacement keys or changing your door lock if your keys are lost or stolen.
A list of your responsibilities can be found in your tenants handbook. If you are unsure whether a repair is your responsibility, your local office or the repairs contact centre can let you know.
Sometimes we might carry out repairs for you that are not our responsibility. These repairs are known as Rechargeable Repairs. If we do, we will charge you the cost of this work. Please note that arrangements to pay for a rechargeable repair must be made before the work is carried out.
