Homeless International Charity Project
|
|
Whitefriars Chief Executive Howard Farrand is this year’s President of the Chartered Institute of Housing. His chosen charity for the year is Homeless International.
Homeless International Homeless International supports community-led housing and infrastructure related development in partnership with local partner organisations in Africa and Asia.
The initiatives are all led, developed and managed by the local community groups themselves. Slum DwellingThe Whitefriars’ Apprentices were set a challenge to construct a portable representation of a slum dwelling to raise awareness and funds for the charity. This model will be used at a series of events in the coming year.
The first event to raise awareness was a Sleepout in Priory Place in Coventry on the 5th October 2009. Check out the BBC radio interview done with Howard Farrand, Chief Executive of Whitefriars and Larry English, Chief Executive of Homeless International at www.youtube.com/whitefriarshousing.
