Learning and Development

We encourage and support colleagues to develop the skills and knowledge to do their jobs and to do them well, helping us to create places where people are proud to live and work.  We expect a commitment from everyone to achieve this.

We are committed to providing the best learning and development activities for all our staff to meet the needs of our Group, our customers and the needs of individual employees. This is done through Corporate learning needs, business area specific learning and individual learning, which may include designing bespoke training packages or ad hoc courses. 

All new employees receive training for their job role and will have:

• Corporate and local induction, so employees get to know more about the organisation, our culture and housing.
• Performance Management Framework training, to support all staff to develop their skills and abilities by agreeing action plans and objectives, to support increased employee motivation and career progression. Through this we measure employees on a behavioural framework. These are behaviours that we expect to see when they are carrying out their job role and for the majority of posts this links to progression through our pay model.
• Equality and Diversity training and Data Protection training.
• Specific training for their job role.

A measure of commitment to personal development is in the achievement of skills and learning leading to qualifications at all levels in the organisation.
