In 2003, Whitefriars took it first steps into regeneration by appointing, Wates Construction to redevelop the difficult to let area of Hillside, Meadway and Valley Road area of Stoke Heath.
A steering group of dedicated residents was established that met on a regular basis and provided an invaluable influence on how the redevelopment should take place and look.
Extensive consultation was undertaken with residents to ensure that the properties provided met the needs of existing tenants wishing to remain in the area. The re-development involved the re-housing of 148 families and demolition of 198 properties.
It will provide:
- 269 homes for rent and open market sale
- Secure and aesthetically pleasing design, incorporating communal green space
- Enhancement of the existing Stoke Heath Community Centre
- Funding for lay equipment on adjacent parkland
