Training & Development Agency
Formed in 2001 to ensure that local people and businesses benefited from the £250m improvement work invested in Coventry’s housing stock by Whitefriars Housing, The Whitefriars Training and Development Agency’s partnership based community and business engagement programmes have generated over £6m pounds worth of UK and European funding. This funding provides zero-cost construction training programmes to unemployed and employed youths and adults.
The Agency’s Purpose is to “Progress people who are unemployed and unskilled through to being employed and skilled”. The Agency consistently achieves this purpose by working within Providers partnerships, and by delivering opportunities at four strategic levels within its tried and tested Learner-Employer progression route:
Community Engagement – promoting diversity and employment and skills values
Work Based Training – providing craft skills and employability training
Employer Support – easing businesses’ employment and training burdens
Employee Skills Support – helping to make the job permanent and worthwhile
While many of the beneficiaries of Agency programmes are Whitefriars tenants, Agency programmes are for regional groups, so that whole communities get the benefits. Many Agency Learners are from disadvantaged and ethnic backgrounds, but our audited achievement success rates of over 85% demonstrate that Agency programmes, and Learner success, is genuinely open to all.
